Just some ideas that are going around as the common wisdom up to this point. Eventually they will become useless, but gold always spends. Gold is your most precious resource as the busts, crests, portraits and deeds all have a finite expense sink. It is best to wait for a fresh recruit that has what you are looking for, or just one off of what you want. Don't spend money opening up optimal skills for new recruits unless it is absolutely vital that you do so. save your gold for skill upgrades and weapons / armor for the recruits that have good quirks and good skill selection. You can always grab 4 fresh recruits from the wagon and chuck them in a dungeon, no matter how dire the situation gets.ĭon't worry to much about destressing people early on. Don't bother with restarting a new game, because there is currently no upper limit on the number of weeks you can spend, and the town will always keep its upgrades even if every hero you have is dead. The characters are a means to an end, and that end is upgrading your town. Think of it like this, the town is what you are playing, not the characters. You will often find groups and classes you didn't previously like or never tried and suddenly they are your A-Team. All of this serves a secondary purpose in allowing you to use random group compositions to learn what works well together, and what fits your playstyle. Don't get attached to recruits until they prove their mettle. These will be the ones that your want to spend your gold buying skills, weapons, trinkets and armor. These will become your A-Team and B-Team. Eventually you will weed out the crap characters and some natural talent will begin to float to the top. Run them as far as they can possibly go, and when they are stressed out or dead, bail on the dungeon to take whatever you have collected so far, and then dismiss them if they are too stressed out or have really bad quirks. Just send four fresh scrubs into a dungeon with minimal provisions, if any at all. And yes, the stagecoach is completely random about which recruits it gives you. The most common tactic is to use your assets from the tutorial dungeon to upgrade your stagecoach network 2 times to grant 4 fresh recruits per week.
